Ura Lhakhang is situated in the middle of Ura village in Bumthang. It was built in the 1980s. Inside is a huge statue of Guru Rimpochhe and beautiful paintings. Guru Nangsay Zilnoen is the main statue. The event is a three-day program, the highlight of which is the invoking and escorting of the Yidam Chhana Dorjee from Gaythen to Ura. Legend has it that a lama visited an old woman who was sitting outside her house, several hundred years ago. The lama asked her a glass of water. The old obliged, generously, and went to fetch water. When she returned, the lama was nowhere to be seen but had left a sack at her doorstep. She opened the sack, out of curiosity, only to find a statue. And the statue was not an ordinary one. Today, this has become the most important relic. It is said that the statue had protected the people in valley from natural calamities and other misfortunes. During this tsechu, the statue is put on display so that the devotees get blessed.
