Historically, Trongsa is one of the most important Dzongkhags. It is the seat of the Trongsa Penlop and, the formal investiture of the Crown Prince of Bhutan as the Trongsa Penlop is observed in this Trongsa Dzong. Trongsa Dzongkhag is Located in the heart of the country with elevation ranging from 800 meters to 4,800 meters above sea Level. It shares its boundaries with Bumthang Dzongkhag to the northeast. Wangdue Phodrang to the west and Zhamgang to the south. The Dzonghkag is home to the Famous jigme Singye Wangchuk National Park which covers an area of (1723) sq.km and is home to many globally endangered flora and fauna, including the Golden Languar. The Dzongkhag has five Gewogs namely Drakteng, Korphu, Nugi, Langthel, and Tangsibji.
